why wont my sanyo 50in tv show or play anything with my laptop hooked up via.hdmi cable

i get nothing when i put my laptop on hdmi cable to the tv i have it on duplicate and have nothing still

Yo try pressing fn and f1 on your dell laptop and go on secondary screen only
it dosent work for some but it normaaly does work just try it

On the TV, did you change to the HDMI input that the laptop is connected to?
