Wich is better realtek ac97 or ac hd

I have ac97 and im okay with it I like it but I have compatibility with repeating it on a virtual audio cable. So my solution after research is that hd is compatible. Does switching to ac hd have a bad effect on my quality or something i should know or should I proceed to it?

I think ac 97 realtek is better than ac 97 HD because of the fact that it has better drivers
