WiFi Direct in Laptop

I do own a Sony Vaio Laptop Model VPCEB36FG, in which the Wifi module ATHEROS AR9285 is installed by default. Since this Wifi module does not support the WIFI DIRECT feature, I wish to upgrade the Wifi module to another WIFI Module which supports WIFI Direct feature. Kindly suggest the best brand which I can get in Indian market and also suggest if the upgrade of the module only along with its Driver installation will yield the desired results? I am seeking WIFI Direct support for transferring files thru WIFI without setting up a hotspot.

You don't need to change your Atheros AR9285 to use the WI-FI Direct. You have to download an update to enable the WI-FI Direct in your card.

Dear friend,

I have downloaded the Atheros Driver mentioned by you, using the URL provided by you. But still Wifi Direct feature does not pop-up when switching on Wifi. I am using Windows7 Professional 32 Bit. Though the Driver installs correctly, the Wifi Direct feature is not there. Normal Wifi is functioning without any error.
I
tried the Driver downloded in Windows7 64 bit also, and still the Wifi Direct feature is not there.

Please suggest a remedy.

Dear,

I too did download the Driver from the above URL. I tried installing the same in both 64 bit as well as 32 bit Windows 7. But the WIFI Direct option is not displayed. Other WIFI functions are working normally.

Please mention if you have got the WIFI Direct function enabled using this Driver? Which Windows 7 you are using? 32 Bit or 64 Bit? Please clearly mention what you did to get the WIFI Direct option?
