Let's look at the simple facts of living in America.

If you are one of the "citizens" then your life should be completely open. You are open to illegal search and seizures, you are open to have a complete range of biometrics on file even if you have never broken the law, the simple governing rights that were created for this country are slowly dissolving and we have no way of stopping it and we are told that essentially if you are doing nothing wrong then you should not fear all of this. There is the key right there....If you are doing nothing wrong, then you have nothing to fear.

Then why should this not apply to the very same people that preach that mantra to us? If the government has nothing to fear then why should they worry about this information gets out? Last I checked, that information is mine and yours. This is supposed to be our country and the government is hired by the citizens to work for us. At least this is what the Constitution and Bill of Rights used to say.

Hey politicians!!! Don't do anything wrong and you will have nothing to worry about!!!

NK1 that's a bunch of crap. While I'm sure it has happened we (I'm military so I can say that) can not just open fire on kids. Hell we can't open fire on adults without getting scrutinized (no clue on how to spell that). You realize that even if an Ak is pointed at me by somebody I simply can't shoot them. I have to go through EOF. Of course you got bad people in the military just like any where else.

I'm glad wikileaks did this. Not because I'm a terrorist, I love my country. But that doesn't mean I don't think we should know more about what they do. These guys arn't terrorist (somebody already explained rather well why they aren't). And yet what does our goverment go straight to TERRORISM! Why because under that assumption they can do pretty much anything they want. Even to American citizens.

The "Patriot Act" that our GOVERMENT signed in goes against everything we're supposed to stand for. So I'm gonna pull something out of our goverment's book. The Patriot Act is an act of terrorism (see I can do it to).

Amazon has every right to protect its business, and an obligation to its stockholders avoid situations that disrupt its business. Regardless what you think of WikiLeaks, Amazon did the right thing by the people that have built and supported the company.

Assange is clearly breaking the laws of the US and I suspect many other countries by publishing secret documents without permission of those countries. "Secret" does not mean nefarious, illegal, or wrong - it simply means that some information is neither necessary nor appropriate for everyone to have at their convenience, and giving them that information makes governance MORE difficult. I'm willing to wager that not a single poster here, myself included, has a life that is 100% transparent, and I see no problem with that, just as I see no problem with parts of the day-to-day business of governments being hidden from the public. That secrecy is often necessary to achieve desirable ends, and please do not forget that the US is a republic, not a democracy - we elect people to act in our best interests, not at the whim of frequently uninformed public opinion.

Why is everyone on here saying that the government should be held accountable for all these crimes? How many of you have read ANY of these leaks before posting your comments? Most of them are bad for the U.S. because they document private talks held between the U.S. and other countries. It happens all the time, but it is bad when Iran can now see that every other middle eastern country is hoping America attacks Iran. It's not all that it's bad for us, it's bad for all the other countries. The backlash we will see could range from some countries refusing to hold talks with us, up to Iran invading or bombing one of these countries who literally told the U.S. to attack them.

These leaks aren't filled with crimes committed by the U.S. They are just candid accounts of the talks we had with certain countries, about other countries. That is all.

No matter how you feel about Wikileaks, the bottom line is the data was classified and obtained by illegal means. It is against the law in the US to simply be in possession of classified material without authorization. Therefore if Amazon was storing these document in the US it would be held liable. Im sure there is some king of extra liability for distribution said classified documents to the rest of the world. If you dont like the laws change them, but dont be upset that they are actually enforcing them. I wish the US government would enforce their immigration laws this aggressively.

You can't claim Assenge isn't guilty of treason...because he's not a US Citizens and then claim he has the right to free of the press, which is a right granted under the US Constitution.... make up your mind!
I personally feel this guy is a terrorist, in the same order as Osama Bin Laden....and should be targeted for assassination by CIA agents.
Also those of you sup[porting this terrorist are traitors to the United States of Amerca and should by immediately detained and sent to GITMO to be water boarded daily.

So ,you claim constitutions of other countries do not grant a freedom of speech? He may not be perfect, but you are much worse than him.

Is it only me that find it very absurd that an Australian guy is releasing US confidential information?

I vote for a public shooting of this guy. He doesn't even own the information he is disclosing, it's all stolen, confidential and dangerous.

EVERY COUNTRY LIES, including Australia...why the hell doesn't he discloses Australian info?
How can ANYONE support this guy sabotaing other peoples country?

I'm not even american, but i would vote for his death without thinking twice.
Either expose EVERYONE or expose NOONE...only exposing someone...feels like something is very wrong.
