Will 8 Ohm speakers work with a 4 Ohm amplifier

Hello,
I have some 8 Ohm 140 watt speakers will getting a 4 Ohm 120X2 watt Amplifier work for these or will it cause them to burn out? I have no idea about any of these technical terms give me a simple answer.
