I'm planning on purchasing my friend's Asus eeePC 1001PXD once he purchases a new laptop.
Here's the specs from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220907

It's in need of a replacement battery, and after an Amazon search I found a 9 cell designed for eeePC's for about 30 dollars instead of a 6cell like the stock.

Here's the battery: http://www.amazon.com/Extended-Capacity-AL31-1005-AL32-1005-PL32-1005/dp/B005HGJ6HK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS?ie=UTF8&coliid=I283YI16UGNWUI&colid=9QT76WY10PBM

Will the stock 40W AC adapter work with this battery or will I need a higher wattage like a 65W adapter?

Any help is appreciated.

Where can I find one that I know is genuine? I checked the Asus website for batteries but I couldn't find any, and all my Google searches come up with brands and websites I've never heard of. I'm probably just not looking hard enough though.

It will take longer to recharge, but your concern is the size of the extended battery. It will most likely stick out from the back and will stop you from opening the screen.
