will a t5800 support 8 gigs of ram?

i have a 5 yr old gateway with a t5800 processor, 2 sticks of 2 gig ram. my question is will the ystem support 8 gigs. just got it to replace a small laptop. aim to install an ssd and would also replace ram if possible. it is in a 5yr old gateway with a intell core 2 duo cpu t5800@ 2 ghz model mc7801u gateway
