Will I able to upgrade my Laptop's Processor ?

Hello,
I have a 1 Year old Core i3 Laptop from Acer (Core i3 2350M/ 2gb / 500gb/ gt630M 1gb)

I want to upgrade this laptop to core i7 3630QM processor. Can I upgrade its Processor ??? I know that, I will have to take my laptop apart. But still I want to upgrade its performance.
Any help Please ???

Yes you can. You have the buy the processor, take a part your laptop, and then put it back together.

You should run cpuz and find out what socket and chipset your laptop mobo is.

Then check that socket's/ chipsets compatiblity with that i7 cpu.

There is a very, very good chance its incompatible based on this alone:

Also, depending on your laptop design, it may not be able to handle the added heat of the i7 and may have overheating problems. If your laptop gets hot under load now, it will certainly not handle an i7 which has a tdp of 45W vs yours (35W)

Also while doing it make sure to get an anti static wrist strap, and pay close attention to the finest details of where screws/connectors go etc.. I would recommend to record yourself while doing it.

Laptop CPU's dont come with heatsinks. The heatsinks are specifically designed for the laptop by the manufacture.

Whats the model of the laptop? The i3 2350m comes in 2 socket options PGA(removable), and BGA(soldered to the motherboard and not removable).

Also looking at the cost of the upgrade $230, I don't think it's worth it. Your better off upgrading a desktop and getting the full deal not just a mobile version.

No you will not be able to upgrade the processor, in laptops its difficult to upgrade processors due to compatibility issues.

I don't think its a good idea to spend $300 to upgrade the processor in a $400 acer laptop.

If you want faster speeds, upgrade your ram to atleast 4 gb before doing anything.

As I stated before, you should find out your chipset, and check to see if its compatible. Im not sure how some people here are saying the cpu will work with your mobo without even knowing the chipset or socket.

In that same article, it states that you still have to check to see if they are compatible. The same socket does not always mean compatibility, especially when it comes to custom mobos made by laptop manufacturers.

Assuming that OP has a HM67 chipset, based on the same site, it will not work with i7-3xxx

Even on Intel's site, as I posted earlier, i7-3xxx is compatible only with HM7x and not HM6x.
