ok so i hear that Windows is doing a free upgrade to Windows 10 but i haven't been prompted yet.can you help me to get it? It ends at the end of the month.

Solution

If that is what it actually says in System Properties, then you cannot Upgrade to Win 10 from this.

If you are able to provide a screenshot of this, we could say 100% one way or the other.
But it's not looking good so far.

Best installation for the upgrade is to get the media creation tool from MS.
Go here:https://www.microsoft.com/en-au/software-download/windows10

Many have issues with Auto update and you must have W7 or later to do an update.

Sorry I'm new to all this computer laptop lingo...what is OS? I also saw something that said Welcome to Windows 8. Could that be it? I was thinking it was XP from the little sticker in the corner of the laptop says Windows XP?

Open File Explorer
Right click on My Computer
Select Properties
What does it say?

Also, down at the bottom right of that window, does it say something about 'activated'?
