windows 8 stereo speaker troubles

I have a three-piece stereo speaker set. the two side speakers run down the same wire into the IN slot on the bass speaker. the bass speaker has a wire running from the OUT port to the headphones port on my laptop. for some reason, the right side audio is playing out the bass speaker and nothing is playing out the right speaker. im running windows 8 and it did work at one point a while ago. is my speaker broke or is something set up wrong? either way, thanks for your help. (note: i may have the left and right speakers switched arround, but that shouldnt matter because they run through the same chord.)

i am almost cirtain my speaker is broken, it works. but only when i squeeze it. yeah, i have no idea. but i will find a sollution!
