Solved! Windows xp takes forever to start then freezes

Hello,
I have a fujitsu lifebook laptop that takes FOREVER to log on, then no matter what I try to do it freezes up. Please help! Thank you

Try starting Windows in Safe Mode. Press F8 before Windows starts. If it boots a bit quicker it may indicate a driver issue.

Otherwise, I think you may have hard drive on the way out.

Try a Linux LiveCD. See if it's a Windows problem or a hardware problem.
Test the memory with memtest86+.
Run manufacturer hard disk diagnostics.
