Wire up speakers?

You don't mention what the AV cord will be connected to?
A line level output won't drive headphones. Might produce some output from these little speakers but not much. If you need to use line level out then you can add an external headphone amplifier and wire the speakers to a headphone plug so you can switch easily between the speakers and headphones.
If it is a speaker level output then you will have more power than you could use for either the little speakers or headphones. It would work but you might end up blowing them both. You can wire a headphone jack to one end of the RCA cables and plug in the speakers or headphones
If you have a headphone jack on your source then you can just connect the speakers or headphones to that.

The only way the OP will blow the speakers is if he/she tries to push too much power to them. It is likely, but as you stated, we don't know what these will be connected to. Just clarifying that, for the OP, if that wasn't understood.

And I'm going to have to say pretty much the same thing... without knowing the source/where the speakers will connect to, there's very little we can do to help you figure this out. Definitely interested in what these will be wired to.
