My laptop suddenly switch off when i was playing my game. As soon as i switch it back on, the wireless function is gone. There is no light on the wireless thingy and in the network connections, control panel... there's only local area network.

The wireless is gone! what shall i do? please advise, thank you!

also check that your laptop does not have a on/off switch for the wifi card on the bottom of the laptop. some do. also if the laptop uses a wifi card on the bottom of the unit take power off the laptop and remove the battery and reseat the wifi card.

is there a switch of 'fn' key for toggling wireless on and off? check for that first. If thats not the issue you want to locate your device manager (start/computer (right click)/manage) and look under wireless devices, what do you see? a yellow triangle? your wireless hardware may have been 'disabled', find it and right click it, then enable it. See if that helps..

Have you tried holding down the Fn (function) key and pressing the Toggle Wireless button? On my keyboard the Toggle Wireless key is F2. You can tell by the little pictures below the respective "F" keys at the top of the keyboard.

If that doesn't work, what were you doing on your computer when it shut off? If it was intensive or if the power to your house went off as well, there might have been a surge/short. If your tell me what kind of laptop you have, I might be able to help you find out if you have a Toggle Wireless button.

My laptop is ASUS K43S model. I've tried Fn F2 where there is wifi icon, but nothing happened. There wasn't any short circuit at my home - it was just my laptop. I was just playing my game and it just shut off and i immediately switch it back on. Could it be that the wireless hardware is busted because it was too hot?

oh and there is no wireless device in device manager.

You could try opening up the laptop and seeing if there was any noticable damage. Was the laptop hot to the touch while playing the game? If not, once you do Fn F2 and can tell that wifi is enabled by the screen icon that comes up, try waiting for a few minutes and then going to control panel>network and internet then pressing troubleshoot.

also check that your laptop does not have a on/off switch for the wifi card on the bottom of the laptop. some do. also if the laptop uses a wifi card on the bottom of the unit take power off the laptop and remove the battery and reseat the wifi card.
