wireless headphones quit working

i have my Bluetooth wireless headphone hook to my pc. they were working fine and now for some reason they will not work.. under sound it shows it disconnected and when i disable everything and run trouble shooting for sound and try to use the headphones it says the peripherals does not appear to be plugged in. so what could it be? the adaptor is plugged in and showing on my computer

Did you check the batteries in the headphones if they need them? Make sure they are turned on? Test them in another computer? Try to re-pair them to the computer?

BT headphones must be connected, so your first order of business is to make sure they are paired with your PC / phone.
You can start troubleshooting with pairing that headphones to your smart phone - this way you will know where to continue.
