Wireless problems with toshiba satellite laptop

Hello,
My Toshiba Satellite A505 is having problems with wireless. It shows that I am connected, but when I click on a browser to bring up internet - it just sits there - and then I get a server error. When I have it connected with Ethernet it works fine. My router is not the problem - in that I can connect other devices wirelessly -- and additionally I had the same problem with the laptop at someone else's house. Any suggestions?

Die you ever get an answer mine is doing the same exact thing. toshiba wants to charge for answers.

DID either of you get an answer, my L455 same thing but im getting a slow downstream,normal upstream and normal wired LAN speed. I tried a few USB WIFI adapters and no help. A few pretty good techs couldnt figure this out I got many guesses. This problem will drive me crazy.....the laptop has sentimental value plus I dont wish to purchase a new box now. Any clues? Also the off button on the wifi ( FN+F12) wont function although the green light goes on....IM perplexed
