im as much of a prick online as i am in person. i just show restraint around family for obvious reasons, but i have been kicked out of a wall mart before.

the video game isle, im looking at everquest, when it just came out, i was 11, some really fat woman, who was being a b**** came up demanded i move, i'm already about as close to the wall as i can be, and after school, being harassed by people all day and no one giving a s***, i was p*****. i looked her in the eyes and said "lose some f****** weight"

there was a good 4 feet of isle space, and if she was any less than 500lbs she would have had no problem walking pasted me. bu demanding i move, in that b***** tone, i snapped.

now being escorted out of walmart was pretty funny to me.

What? Fine she didn't kill the little troll but she could have spanked him at least. Still it wouldn't be worth the trouble with the cops...

Alidan, I envy you your ignorance. Bullying was still a legitmate reason to snap on somebody, I never would have spent 5 years out of my house in various institutions. But it isn't.

As to the article, I feel that on the internet, you should act and speak the same way you would if the person you are talking to is two feet in front of you. No matter the distance, no matter the language, people are still people on the internet, you aren't insulting a robot.

OH NOES, SOMEONE WAS MEAN ON THE INTERNET!!1one

Seriously, a lot of commenters are saying along the lines of "he deserved to be punished." Perhaps no one bothered to wonder if perhaps the woman, (who, as we see, was looney enough to try to drive a state away to kill someone for insulting her) perhaps might've deserved the harassment she got? I mean, it's not like he stole her identity, or destroyed her property, convinced her associates to turn their backs on her, or anything that truly would leave any real and lasting impact... He just hurt her feelings.

Feelings are very, VERY subjective; because someone could take insult at ANYTHING, it's a very bad justification for inflicting any actual harm. This woman serious has something wrong with her.

You're all missing the point why she made it Serious Business.

"Forrest Jamison posted derogatory images and videos of her on the internet"

As aforementioned, it's slander & is quite illegal. I just wonder why she din' bother to press charges & instead went to win an internet award.

Seriously they ought to have "Virtual Crysis" for such situations, where you ca just blow the chap away and he'd never bother you again. So that way what's cyber stays cyber, people must really stop mixing the two, I really can't imagine someone driving to half a yahoo chatroom .

I don't know about slander, maybe a parody if she's not that great to look at. Freedom of speech goes a long way, and the proper legal route is almost never go shoot the person unless they have crude oil or weapons of mass destruction. Which again, if she's not much to look at, maybe the pictures were WMDs and she was just acting as trained. I think there's more to this story that we're getting...

People blaming the kid is pathetic. So what get over it. Anybody that goes on a road trip because somebody was being a douche online, probably deserved the crap anyways.

It's online there's usually ways to /ignore the person in the first place. She deserves everything she gets. The kid isn't what is wrong some of you people and this woman is what's wrong with society.

Wow, so much wrong with this entire situation.
Some 25 year old gets into a internet feud with an "unspecified age" male in another state. He gets the upper hand in their fray, and she decides it's time to go shoot him?

Obviously the young lady needs some professional help, and the youngster who's letting his mouth overload his arse needs some "parental" help. Some counseling ( after jail time is served ) and a good ass-beating ( and loss of internet ) should solve both problems.

Sorry, but this kid is one to blame in 1st place, he deserve some detention or some public work to give him time to think.
It doesn't matter if you talk on internet, you should allways act as if you are talking with person eyes to eyes and if you talk dirty you could see it comming. Internet is there to help you get informations and communicate, not to your personal protection.

And thus this is why instead you give them horrible wedgies and force feed them laxatives to teach them a lesson. that it's just mostly mental harm and the loss of underpants.

@cmartin011: Haha... right to "bare arms"... some people should not have the right to bare arms. But in reality, we don't know what she was planning to do with the gun, but it's scary. It's also scary what the Internet allows people to get away with, and we're going to have this problem as long as it's fully anonymous. What you are in the dark...

[citation][nom]stm1185[/nom]The failures of parenting in the last decade created these monsters, and now its up to somebody to stop them. With a bang!Dun Dun Dun.[/citation]

Parenting plays a role, but removing consequences for misconduct at large plays the biggest role.

I'm sure if people couldn't get away with just about anything, some of the less decent people might've actually learned to be decent.
It's all about moral, and without consequence there's no reason to avoid cause unless moral kicks in. And that too is an expensive commodity in a world where the victims are always blamed and nobody wants to take responsibility.
