Word 2013 convertd all my word files to internet explorer help

I had all my files saves in word 2013. I used a template and saves it as usuall.. I found that the template did not save in word but scattered into pieces. When I went to open my other doc today I found tha all had been converted to internet explored and I keep getting a pop up question that asks what do I want the file to be opened in from internet explorer

Sounds like maybe word files (i.e. .doc, .docx, etc) have been set to open with internet explorer. Try right-clicking a word file, go to properties, in the General tab check and see what "Opens With:" is set to, if it's something other than word change it back to word
