I'm looking to buy a laptop to use for school, mostly for Office and media consumption.

I don't need gaming performance since I have desktop for that.

These are the features I'd like :

1080p IPS display with touch.
Mini Display port
6/8 GB fast memory
SSD or SSD/HDD
802.11ac and 1000base T (not absolute requirement)
Numpad would be useful, but not very relevant.

I saw the Asus ux303ln, but was wondering what the competition had to offer (don't like the colour much).

All useful suggestions are welcome.

The specs you want is not the cheapest ever, but what makes it really expensive is the touch screen. you`re really not going to use it. The one I got from work is also touch screen and I have a mouse and keyboard on it anyway. You don`t really think of touch screen after a while.

But if it`s a must, get one of those laptops where the screen releases to a table. HP`s convertible or ASUS`s Transform Book is 2 very good examples!
