Not sure where you got your info, gm0n3y, but Boll was never going to direct this. He contacted Blizzard to apply for the job, and they told him to get stuffed. That was the end of it.

If the movie is as good as the in-game video clips then it will be a success. I just hope the somewhat noob director can pull it off with help from Bliz. Not a big WoW fan but loved the Warcraft series.

"So the gauntlet was thrown down ages ago: Can you make a proper MOVIE of a video game," Jones said via Twitter. "I’ve always said it’s possible. Got to DO it now! ;)"
Right because it's never been done before? Hard to argue that at least the first resident evil wasn't a proper movie and tomb raider wasn't bad either.
Honestly can't see this being a good or great movie in the least short of going way over budget forsaking profits it sounds like complete fail tinfoil hat idea to me gimmicks might work in a game like WoW, but with movie goers it's unlikely you can't just shower them with incremental upgrades in a broken economy where anyone can compete provided they want to stand in line for loot and play nicely with others to acquire loot.
Final Fantasy could make for a great blockbuster movie if they ever wanted to do it legitimately with a director like Peter Jackson or James Cameron at the helm.

They are a few years to late on this. WoW no longer has the luster it had, and with Blizzard's missteps the past couple of years with every single release, who will trust them.

This would have been a good thing say around the time of Burning Crusade when it was originally being talked about but now...I think it's too late. That being said a movie based on this franchise should be CG not live acting as there's just so much more you can do in CG with with a movie set in a fantasy world. The power of CG has come a very long way, just look at the CG in FF: Spirits within sure the script and story sucked but the CG was great, look at the cut scenes and intros for modern games CG could work for this movie. But like some have said most movies based on games have bombed at the box office horribly, the same goes for some games based on movies.

The thing is, they have already stuffed up. I'm sure everyone will agree that Warcraft 3 including the expansion was a really good story with engaging characters, plot, action and ending. I personally think They should have started with making Warcraft 3 into a movie which is the starting point of WoW. But now we are thrown in the deep end in the current WoW storyline not knowing what's going or happened before hand. I'll be at the cinema anyway, Warcraft is my one of my favourite universes.

I think by "proper", they mean ones that didn't suck. Resident evil was silly. Tomb Raider was just plain bad. The franchises were wasted.
