Would the performance worth giving $3800?

Hi, I already had another post about this but this time I have a differrent question.
First of all here is the laptop:

Alienware 18 with;
GTX 880m SLI (2x 8GB)
16 GB 1600 MHz RAM
Intel Core i7 4810mq
1 TB/5400 RPM + 80G mSATA

Meanwhile I am aware that spending the same money on a desktop configuration would get me more performance but my condition requires a portable system. I need to be able to play games maxed out at least 2-3 years on minimum 35 fps (looking for an average fps of 50's-60's) then keep playing games on ultra-high with the same fps rates 2-3 years more. In addition I am looking for a system that is capable of playing games maxed out, or nearly maxed out 1080p@(50-60) fps. In the future I don't want to be thinking like "It was a mistake, I should have bought a desktop pc no matter what.". So should I go with this system? Thanks

That is silly kind of money to spend on a gaming laptop. Dont even know how much it is but its gonna be expensive. That 880m SLI, that is about equivalent to a 780 ti (just a guess but im not far off I bet). And youll pay double for it gauranteed. If the laptop even lasts that long due to heat issues. So id vote no. Desktop all the way. No one games so much that they HAVE to be gaming everywhere they go.

I would buy a new gaming laptop for around 1200 (MSI and ASUS have some great models). Then spend that difference on a WICKED Desktop Box (4770K+SLI 780). Youll have the best of both worlds.

I have two asus g750 laptops. One with 860m and one with 880m. Both play titanfall on high, 860 plays bf4 and cod ghosts on high mostly, 880m plays those at ultra.

I cant imagine needing double those cards, for any laptop purchases. With a screen size of 17" i cant even see a high vs ultra difference. And if you want it to be pushing multiple monitors and such. You'd be far better off getting a $1200-1500 gaming laptop, and a $1500 gaming pc.

My laptop even the 860m is great for gaming, and i cant see needing anything more. But i also love using my gaming pc with multi monitors.

if your comfortable spending that much money, performance wise its not worth it. But you can get good laptp gaming performance for $1500, 870m in that price. And then spend the remainder of the $2000 on a very nice high end pc. You could get i7 and 780ti, or i5 and dual 780/780ti for that price.
