Ok, so right now, i have an ok laptop but there's one thing that realy sucks...the cpu, its currently a 1.3 ghz dual core that is really slow and i would like to atleast upgrade to a 2.5-3ghz cpu So i had an idea, is there any way i can buy a better cpu/mobo combo and just put in the ram, hdd and use the screen from the old one to essentially upgradey current laptop as i am currently really poor right now yes, i realize that is neither practical nor will it fit in the old case, but if anyone knows if this is possible or knows were i can buy a mobo/cpu combo, pls link to a website or tell me where

You won't be able to upgrade the MB and have it fit in the laptop. Also, it would be a desktop MB, and the notebook RAM won't fit.

Yes, i know that it wouldnt fit in the case, what i am looking for is a LAPTOP cpu/mobo combo for sale that i could then connect the old ram and hdd too

No, simply put. Boards and parts in laptops are custom made for that maker, even different by model type (i.e. motherboard in A might not fit in B, and sure can't be powered by the B power supply). Laptops are NOT upgradable.

As your point is to game, then switch (since you lack finances) to a PS4 for $200-400 to game, get a free BluRay, Free Gamer's Heatset and free Wireless controller to boot. Otherwise, PC is Pay to Play. Desktop gaming capable of performing well is NOT based on Ghz (hasn't been for a decade) it is based on how many cores' and that plus a GPU all cost alot so your looking at $700 or more. To make it not overheat, eat a battery in 15 minutes, actually FIT inside the laptop case AND not weight 12lbs or more, Laptops are 2X as expensive, normally $1200+ for a portable capable gaming PC.

May want to consider an Intel NUC. They come with the CPU and MB, and I believe they use notebook RAM and hard drive. Be careful to check on which RAM you currently have exactly to see if it is compatible.

Ok, yes i understand what you are all trying to say, but if i find a MB with a cpu that has a decent integreted graphics, and if it happens to be able to use the same ram that i currently use, then why would it not be able to work,

Also battery life and weight are no problem as i mainly use at home

The laptop MB will be expensive and their integrated graphics are hardly an upgrade.

Uhmmm that isn't much of a upgrade to the stripped down PC the OP is using either. The point the OP is trying to make is to for FREE take a 'generic' user PC and make it a capable powerful computer. The better solution be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856102052 but again no way to 'game' off it if that is the intention.

But again, if your going to spend $200-300 a PS4 be a better investment, then you can play GTA V at 1080P 30FPS on High at least, and many other titles up to 60FPS.
