X7200 or Sandy Bridge?

Hi,
as the title states I was thinking of purchasing a X7200. But should I wait for the arrival of the Sandy Bridge processors? Will their performance be that much greater etc etc?

Also, I'm not quite sure as to what it means when a new processor comes out? Will that effect GPUs?

For example if I bought the X7200 and decided it to upgrade it to a new GPU in the future with the Sandy Bridge tech. would it still work?

Sorry I'm still learning.
