hmm... 360 Elite (120G HD) = PS3 slim (120GHD + Blu-ray + wifi)= $299

hmm... hardware wise.... 360 Elite seems way overpriced....

yes we can take the software into account.. but that becomes very subjective... then it is all about the personal preference or the purpose of having the console.

Anyway... from the hardware point of view... 360 Elite seems way overpriced even after the discount.

OK but with a 50+% failure rate, no thank you MS, you can keep your crapbox 360 and I will keep my PC and use your XP OS instead.

man.. i wish the 'integrated wifi' people would give it up... i've gone through way too many returns on laptops because of shitty integrated wireless that i would prefer using my own add-on devices for such things. not to mention that wireless N is around the corner (hopefully) and that precious integrated adapter in your PS3 will be obsolete... and if you didn't know... linksys makes the best add-on wireless controller for all consoles that have an ethernet port for $70USD that has a user replaceable anntenna so you can get a decent signal in the worst of situations (apartments, anybody?). and then there's the rest of that prefer the wire for it's stability and increased throughput... so take your lame argument elsewhere... it's pathetic...

The Xbox has had a higher failure rate than other consoles, but the idiots that keep claiming the 50% failure rate just demonstrate how soft brained they are. That poll was not in any way a valid survey.

I had a xbox for two years and didn't have one problem with it, sold it and the day the person got it, it red ringed. Nevertheless it's their problem now but still, Every one of my friends that has owned a 360 no longer has the original one they bought, they have all been replaced because of the red ring. I believe the 50% even if it wasn't a valid survey. Open your eyes fan boys, embrace the benefits of all consoles and if you don't have enough money to own all, don't bash on something you haven't had time to sit down and play constantly.
I have also had a 360 freeze on me so many times, but PS3, maybe a couple times but it fixed itself instead of just crashing.
360 is also 3 times louder than the PS3. PS3 is almost whisper quiet.
Blu-Ray is also one BIG feature that the PS3 wins hands down. Microsoft has nothing going for it in that sense.

Online wise, it's pretty much preference, if you like trash-talking twelve year olds screaming on the mic, Xbox Live wins but you have to pay for that. PS3 is free, it may not be as fluid as Xbox Live, but so what? You have to learn a few things, oh noes.
Oh and the wifi thing, Xbox 360 Elite($299)+$70 or if you get Microsofts brand, $99, that pushes the cost to $370 or $399, back to ground one again. Besides, the Wifi integrated into the PS3 isn't bad at all. I can get full signal no matter where I play in my house.

All in all, Make the Elite $250, and I might buy one again, but $299 it can't compete with PS3 at the same price it is now.

Wireless N will make the PS3 obsolete...LOL

Why would you even need faster than 54mpbs for the PS3 anyway? It's plenty for streaming video and way faster than your internet connection, so what's the point?

Wireless N has been around the corner for years. But it doesn't make your old Wireless G useless...in the case of the PS3, it can rarely (if ever) take advantage of the higher speed. The hdd is too slow to max out N...

When you hear about console and you compaire it with your PCs you just sound dumb, seriously. When you talk about the 54% failure rate that was done with a pole from a gamingsite thats full of kiddos that love their console more than their own anus cause i bet they WOULD bend over in order to keep their PS3s or whatever in their arms, again you sound stupid...

Now as on the subject if you wanna pay a PS3 for worst tittles cause ur lazy to RISK as you think within 3 years waranty to send it in for free service then go ahead and play worst version of multiplatform games. As for exclusives i wont mention. I dont need no fanboys gathering around this site as well by much. Its a matter of choice on what you pay for. Just stop mentioning invalid and dumb things when you try to make your points ppl.. ffs

The newer Elite versions has a failure rate more in tuned with the rest.

The difference is that the XBOX Live catalog is much better. It's got Netflix and can watch videos from hulu.com. And games, for the most part, still look better on the 360 than on the PS3.

Since hulu.com has banned or has been banned due to Sony asking hulu for ad revenue, I hardly turned on that paper weight except to watch my HUGE collection of blu-ray movies... Spiderman 3, Night at the Museum, Dark Knight, Face/Off... and that's it! HUGE Blu-ray collection! Not to mention I can power a village in India with the power required to watch a movie on the PS3.

P.S. Wifi on the PS3 is only G. For those who like to do not like mixed modes, the wifi is USELESS!

No real reason for buying a 360 for me, crappy hardware and awful design inside and I can play most of it's games with better graphics on my PC. I better save $300 for Windows 7!!

@ davisorle

I feel the urge to respond to your post, but the horrible spelling and grammar and the flaming prevent me from being able to understand it

Can get the Pro at Target right now for $249.99 with two controllers. As of right now if I'm going to spend $300 it will be on a PS3 but for $250 and two controllers that is a pretty good deal. Those controllers are so ridiculously overpriced.

Of course for a lot of people blu-ray is a wash because the discs are so stupidly expensive. I own exactly one blu-ray movie, Hoosiers, that I picked up from Fry's for $10.99. The wi-fi is nice but for blu-ray to mean anything for me the average price of the discs needs to be cut by 65%.

"1dan@dancom: Wireless N will make the PS3 obsolete...LOL"

learn how to comprehend, troll. i mentioned that it would make the wireless adapter in the PS3 obsolete. for people that have multiple devices in their homes, this is a big deal. especially when streaming multiple data streams over wireless. and if you live in an or around an apartment complex with their own poorly setup WLANs... then you have big problems... obviously you don't do much of that or you would know that even have 2 devices with moderate streams makes 54Mbps insufficient. try 10 or more all consuming 3-4Mbps and then let me know how your video streams look... and time sensitive stuff like games are right out the window because of the increased contention...

has no one else done real world wireless setups in more than just 1 location with more than 1 device at a time?
