[citation][nom]jellico[/nom]...The First Amendment must be applied across the board, without exception, or it means nothing!...[/citation]
Incorrect.

For example, you can't yell "fire" in a theatre, or "bomb" at an airport, etc. There are reasonable restrictions on free speech when the safety of others is a concern.

I was wondering when someone would bring up this example. There is a fundamental difference. Yelling "fire" in a crowded theater, or "bomb" on an airplane are both examples of where an individual is on privately owned property (and not their property), and doing something which would only be expected in certain situations, and which which illicit a specific response.

Now, have someone stand in the middle of a park and yell "fire" or "bomb" and people would look at him like he is nuts and keep walking. Have that person stand in the middle of his own yard and do that, people would probably ignore him entirely (please don't start bring up example of condos in New York... you're just degenerating to a specificity at that point).

This guy is taking books that he owns and burning them on his property in a form of protest. This is no different that the idiots who burn and defile American flags to protest, who burn bibles and desecrate Christian holy symbols to protest (or for artistic expression). Even when Bush was in office, we didn't get White House press releases about that.

In the past, when pro-life extremists have bombed abortion clinics and/or killed abortion doctors, there was no serious national discussion about whether or not we should stop performing abortions so as not to anger the pro-life extremists. Abortion doctors continued their work, even under threats of death, and women continued to exercise control over their bodies, even while being harassed by protestors. And... abortion isn't even a right mentioned in the Constitution! Yet, we stand up against violent extremists to protect it because... that's what Americans do.

We have never bowed to the will of tyrants or oppressors, and we have never negotiated with terrorists. Should we change all of that now because we are afraid of the reaction of followers of this "religion of peace"? Have we decended so far that the Right which we hold above all others will now have its limits defined by our fear?

Doesn't Microsoft have better things to do. Like build a new console or something. I mean come on. At least have a database of town names before you throw down the banhammer for something as silly as thisBaRbet should instead ban the squeaky 14 year olds
Pc ftw.

I wonder if the song "I heard it through the grapevine" is banned from being played by Microsoft employees at work. I mean, it was writen by a dude named Marvin Gaye.

They rather ban people for offensive gamer tags than players who blatantly cheat with modded Xboxes & controllers... I have friends that had to change their gamer tags for far less offensive. You pay $60.00 a year you should be able to have any gamer tag that you want. If people find it offensive than just block that person or gamer tag! I'm sure that they would ban: "EX Box Sux" as well...

Well now that you have elaborated on your point, I agree.

Not that I know much about it, but wasn't the Iran–Contra affair over negotiating with terrorists? And I wouldn't at all be surprised if there were other incidents (again, not an area I have researched).

Interesting...I didn't know the word "gay" is offensive to some people. I suppose I should switch back to use the word "dearest comrade" to avoid offending those who are easily offended.

Maybe they should ban parents from having more kids who don't control their kids and let them say words like "gay" or go online and play M rated games when they're only eight.

[citation][nom]gmarsack[/nom]In Michigan, where I live, you might live off of i69 & Big Beaver.[/citation]

I'm actually from Battle Creek/Kalamazoo/Grand Rapids (I've moved a bit, and Michigan is my fifth state). I've heard of these places...and I live about 5 minutes from M69. :)

[citation][nom]t0mmy1977[/nom]If I lived in Intercourse, PA, that would not be gay.[/citation]

I also used to live in Lancaster PA. So I'm familiar with Intercourse as well. Another place that might be objectionable is Climax...there are several cities by this name that I've encountered.

[citation][nom]jsc[/nom]Sigh.I am old enough to remember when "gay" refered to a state of mind.[/citation]

We could kick back and reminiscence and have a gay old time of it.

This is only the beginning. Kinect will be a double edged sword, all those gay pedophiles will now used the video chat feature to fulfill their homo-lusting fantasies. The ironic thing is, gay men will claim a violation of privacy and that Microsoft is playing "Big Brother". This will be truly sad...

[citation][nom]CoreyM72[/nom]If MS used zip codes along with MapPoint then they could automatically poulate Fort Gay. What a bunch of 30218 rods![/citation]

30218 = new Internet meme?
