I think the whole point they are trying to get across is that it's not going to run hot.But if it does, they have added other measures to prevent console failure that they didn't do in original design of the 360 version that came out in 2005.I think they are trying to reasure people the same thing isn't going to happen like they did the first time.

funny thing is i had a 1st gen xbx 360 elite last up until last year when it finally kicked the bucket, when the power supply went, but the reason I think it lasted that long is i didn't put it in a hot box (ie putting it in a entertainment center with a closed door, I put it out in the open where it could get good air flow just liek i do with my pc's, also took it apart and cleaned out the dust every quarter

Xbone 180 requires xbox live gold subscription to start a browser, play youtube or record gameplay. Something that other competitors and god forbid, PC, do for free.

Take a look at Cougar fans, their MTBF is 300,000hrs, which should more than satisfy your requirement of a fan lasting 10 years. Next time I need fans I will probably look at getting some of theirs as the reviews are all pretty good.

Look at MS take something that every ones been doing for years and finally do it.
I question why the console down clock before revving up the fan. As most gamers would rather have smooth game play over silence.

It does not throttle, then kick in the fan. It is the opposite if you read the source, which you need to do with ALL tom's "news" articles. it works exactly like common sense tells you it should. Fan then throttle. Kevin just flat out LIED again.
