YouTube videos won't play

On my Samsung Galaxy S5, after the recent update of the YouTube app, YouTube videos won't play. It just shows the loading circle endlessly. It's weird, because my internet connection is perfect and the ad before the video plays just fine.
Any solutions?

PS: already tried resetting my router, clearing the cache of the YouTube app, signing out of my google account and installing a script that filters bad CDN's. Nothing helped.
YouTube app version: 10.28.59

UPDATE: sometimes the ad won't load as well, and there is just an endless loading circle.

There is no way to delete it, however I reset all the updates and then reinstalled them and now it's working again
