I figured it out guys. The issue is that Turtle Beach installed this plastic barrier around the headphone jack port so any headphones with a thick covering near the end of the jack will not fit properly. This will cause the mic to not work on your headset, the left and right ear will work but not the mic. What I did to fix this is first I went to home depot and bought a Torx screwdriver. The size you need is T6 Torx bit. Open up the Z22 amplifier and safely remove the case from the circuit board and wire. Now on the case where the headset plugs into you will see this black circle piece that can be easily removed just by pulling up on it. This is not the problem, just acts more as a guide. Next you will see a semi-circle cut on each piece of the case, this is the part that is making your headset not work. You will need to safety remove the semi-circle part by using a cutting tool, I used wire/metal clippers. Then use pliers to bend it back and forth and than twist it out. Cutting beyond the semi-circle is unnecessary, cut a little piece out and then do a test to see if it is still stopping your headphone jack from fully entering. After cutting both sides get a cloth and rub the working area down to get rid of excess material. Then I personally (you dont have to do this) used a lighter and just quickly put it close to the cut area, just to try and smooth out and work area. Like I said the lighter is not needed, I just did it to try to make it look clean. After that put it back together and test if your headphone jack will fully enter the port before you screw the screws back in. If it fits than go ahead and put the screws back in and congratz. You now have a TurTle Beach Z22 Amplifier that will work with any other headset you plug into. Hope you guys find this useful.
