It's a photo sharing app with basic editing of said photos (simple filters) Nothing that hasn't already been done, but it shares to multiple sites so it's pretty popular.

I just signed up for Instagram yesterday!

It's probably the least intrusive social media app. Well, "was" the least intrusive. Now that Facebook is buying them, I'm sure they will mine as much data as possible.

was mark zuckerberg drunk when he made this splurge acquisition? i just cant rationalize the billion dollar price point.

Little Zucky needs to remember that since the company went public, he can be fired from his post if another party acquires majority share. With decisions like this, all that will be necessary is for his share to fall to 49% and he's at risk of being booted. Maybe that would be a good thing.
