How Can I Backup SMS and Contacts on My Tablet?

Nowadays users change their mobile phones and/or tablets very frequently. Where the new devices bring a new craze along with them, one of the major drawbacks of changing the devices quite often is that users lose their contacts and/or SMS while migrating from one device to another.

If you are among one of them, and you keep changing your devices regularly, it might be challenging for you to backup all your SMS and contacts and restore them onto the new device that you have recently purchased.

Although Google allows you to synchronize the contents of your smartphone or tablet with your Gmail ID, it only allows you to back up the contacts. This means that you will not be able to back up the SMS on your phone or tablet. Also, Google supports vCard (.vcf) files that can be exported to the Gmail ID, and can be imported back to the device when needed.

In the entire backing up and restoring scenario, the contacts can be easily backed up and restored. The problem is mostly with backing up and restoring the SMS. Fortunately a useful app called Super Backup works to resolve this issue. With the help of Super Backup you can take the backup of your contacts and SMS and can restore it whenever needed, either on the same android device or the other. Apart from backing up the SMS and contacts, Super Backup also allows you to back up the apps, call logs, calendars, and the bookmarks that your device may have.

After backing up the information on your device, it saves the data in an XML file that can be stored anywhere within the device or on the computer. One smart step that the Super Backup takes after backing up the contents on your device is that it automatically prompts you to email the backup data, to the default email account that has been associated with your tablet/phone.

To use Super Backup, you must first download the app from Google Play Store and install it on your device. Once installed, the entire interface of the app is straightforward and easy to operate. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. ■Assuming that you have already downloaded and installed Super Backup app.
■On the home screen of your device, tap apps drawer.

■On the opened interface tap the button representing the type of content that you want to backup. (For example, tap SMS Backup.)
