How to Use microSD Card in Fire TV

If you’re looking for added space, 2nd Generation Fire TV allows you to save apps and games to a microSD card since the device has a microSD port for adequate external storage. Therefore, if you need more games or apps on your Fire TV, all you have to do is insert a microSD that you own or purchased separately.
The 2nd Generation Amazon Fire TVs feature a microSD port that supports microSD card formatted as FAT32 and whose sizes can reach up to 128GB.

Here are simple steps on how to us a microSD card in Amazon Fire TV.

1. Insert ‘MicroSD Card’

● Insert your compatible microSD card into the microSD port on the back of your Fire TV

If your microSD is not compatible with your Fire TV, a notification will be displayed on your screen. You might get on of the two options, to ‘Format SD Card’ to the compatible FAT32 configuration so that you can be able to use it with your Amazon Fire TV or to ‘Eject’ the card. Choosing to format the SD card permanently erases any data you had previously saved on it.

2. Manage ‘MicroSD Storage’

The only safe way to remove your microSD card is to eject it from your Fire TV using the following steps:

● From the Fire TV menu, go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Device’ followed by ‘SD Card’
● Select ‘Eject’

Wait for a notification to tell you it’s safe to remove your microSD card then pull it out from the port at the back of your device.
