Use the Samsung Galaxy Note8 as a Phone

The Galaxy Note8 is Samsung’s latest and most advanced smartphone to date. It comes with loaded with features, impressive specs and sports sleek 6.3-inch screen. In addition to all this, it’s also a very capable phone as well.

In this guide, we will take a look at some of the ways you can make use of your Note8 as a phone.

1. Make a call using the call dialer
a. From home, tap the Phone icon to display the phone screen.
b. Tap the Keypad to show the keypad if it is not visible.
c. Enter the phone number you want to call and tap the Dial key to call the number.

2. Make a Call from Your Contacts
To place a call from someone on your contacts list, simply
a. Tap the Phone icon.
b. Tap Contacts to show your contacts list.
c. Tap one of your contacts and tap call next to the number you want.

3. Block You Caller ID
To block your caller ID:
a. From the home screen, tap the Phone icon
b. On the keypad, dial *67 followed by the number you want to call
c. Tap Dial.

4. Use Call Waiting
a. Answer the incoming call by sliding the Answer icon to the right. This will put the first caller on hold while you answer the second call.
b. To return to your previous call simply tap the swap icon
When you are actively on a call, call waiting will alert you to additional incoming calls by sounding two beeps and your phone will display the second caller’s information.

5. Use Conference calling
a. While on an active call, tap the Add Call icon and dial the second number. You may also call the second number from your contacts or recents.
b. When you are connected to the second caller, tap the Merge icon to begin your conference or 3-way call.

6. Use Bixby Voice to do your phone related tasks
Bixby can perform most of the previously mentioned tasks. First, activate Bixby by saying “Hi Bixby” or “Hey Bixby”, then follow up by issuing a command. To make a call, you can say something like, “Call Dad on mobile” and your call will be placed to that number. When receiving a call you tell ask Bixby to “Accept” or “Decline” by simply saying so.

Bixby can also block numbers, “Block last number”, show your list of missed calls “Show Missed Calls” and add a number to contacts, “Create a new contact as Barry with the number 1-234-567-8910”. Other phone related tasks Bixby can perform include texting, video calling, opening the dialer, and turning off the ringer.
