How do I hook up a smart tv box so that I get sound from the external speakers?

I can watch movies of this smart tv box, but there is no sound. I have a Sony Bravia surround sound home theatre system. I am not sure how to hook up the system in order to get surround sound or at least sound from the tv while playing movies on the box. Do you need to know what all this...

I forgot to ask if you need the receiver information. We bought a Sony home theatre system. TV, BD, Receiver and surround sound speakers. We watch videos and get surround sound. With the new tv box,we can see a movie, but there is no sound. We have tried so many different hook ups and nothing works.

the smart tv box is an android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and the wireless Bell.ca box VIP2502. On the back of this box it has the following: Network Y Pb Pr Video Out Audio Out L R Optical HDMI Power 12V DC The make of this box is Arris. Does this help at all? Thanks so much

when you talk about the tv box, do you mean the cable box, or the Android smart tv box? We are trying everything. I must mention that we have Bell Fibe, which is wireless. There is no place to put an hdmi cable from the wireless box to the tv. What else can we try?
