I can change the resolution on my cable box from 1080i to 720p and there is
no noticeable difference. Is there a "best" setting?

Depends on what your tv does. Is it a CRT or DLP/LCD hdtv?

You should set the cable box to whatever your tv displays - CRT's are 1080i,
while LCD/DLP's are 720p.

Go with your eyes, 1080i actually has less artifacts on my 720p set.

That probably means that your TV is doing a better job converting 1080i
to 720p from a native 1080i signal. I would think you would see a better
image on a native 720p signal sent that way to the TV rather than having
the box convert the 720p to 1080i and then having your TV convert it
back to 720p.

Just out of curiosity, what TV do you have? And are you noticing this on
1080i native programming or on 720p as well?

I assume you have a set that is 720p then?

It means my panasonic 50lc13 is optumized for 1080i signal.

I thought 720p native would look better at first, but it's not the case.
