Hi All,

SIMPLE QUESTION. Does the "wire trick" of connecting the two pins (like in the unlocking Barton Article) also work on the older Palomino and T-Bred cores? Has anyone had any luck with this? I want to unlock the multiplier, but don't want to mess with conductive paint/grease and the L1 bridges. Thanks.

Well the wire trick only grants access to the lower multipliers (12.5 and below) when you have a higher multipliers (13x and above) Barton/T-bred CPU. And it certaintly does not work with Palomino's.

But if you got a T-bred XP1700+ the multiplier should already be unlocked. With the Palomino you can close the L1 bridges to unlock it or use wire mods to force a certain multiplier setting as found in this guide: <A HREF="http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html" target="_new">http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html</A>

Sooo, you're sayin' the Palomino (i double-checked my core) won't unlock the multipliers that easily. Does anybody know if Arctic Silver would work to close the bridges after a little super glue in the craters? Or is conductive ink or a Rear Window Defroster kit the only way? I'd really rather not go buy some junk I'll never use again, but with the AS 2 on hand, it would be simple as pie. Thanks again.

Ah Ha! I should have Googled first, asked questions later. Apparently the Arctic Silver will do fine according to several articles. I'll try it tonight and see. Please post if AC2 has or has not worked for your Palomino.

Well AS2 and 3 are made to be non conductive and remain liquid so I strongly disrecomment using them. Artic Silver Adhesive is also non electricity conducting.

Better use silver conducting glue, back window repair kits or silver conductive paint.
