I have an Onkyo HT-S9400THX home theater system that i have connected to my PC's AMD 6950's hdmi port
and my PS3 with hdmi that pass through to hdmi again to the tv. the ps3 works fine and everything is ok.
my first problem is with the PC though, I normally use my built in sound card and headphones and everything is fine as well there, but when i switch to the hdmi output only windows sounds wont work like start-up noise or the TEST audio they give you too see if your setup is working correctly. when i run programs like games or when i play movies it works. (sort of, this is my next problem)
the second problem is more major. the audio coming from the pc has reversed Rear and side speakers, as in the furthest back are my sides and the sides are the back but it is fine with the ps3.
any help is appreciated as i don't know as much about audio as i would like.
and hopefully i get an answer as my last 3 posts have gone unanswered.
Quick edit: also noticed when on the desktop my reciver is at all channel stereo but when i run a program it switches to mutichannel which is what i want.
