250gb to 500gb back to 250gb? How?

Hello there mate,

I have Backup my 250gb to my 500gb via Sata Cloner. all went fine,

but after backup 3 months the 250gb (source) crash.

I Like to write the Backup from 500gb to my spare 250gb Hardisk.

It is possible? Anyone how to do it?

or I will make image from 500gb via software the get the use are only ...

Did you partition the 500 GB drive? My sense is that you did not use partitioning but that is not uncommon. I ask because the target drive has to be at least the same size or larger than the drive being closed. Which I think you know.

You should be able to clone back the 250gb to the spare 250gb HD. However you may need to partition the 500 gb drive beforehand. Then clone the partition (now less than 250gb) with data accordingly. Establishing a second partition will probably require one of software applications intended for such purposes.

Partitioning a drive with data is risky so I think I would just do a copy of the files from the 500gb to the spare 250gb HD.

Not sure what other drives and hardware you may have along with the necessary connectors etc.. However, if you make the effort to ensure that there is a good copy of the data always acccesible and protected then you should be able to just clone the back even if a couple of extra steps are necessary. I.e., maybe via an interim hard drive.
