Alright I have a question, I am considering upgrading to a 4k tv during this black friday month long event. My question concerns the ability to use only 1080p resolution while playing games on the screen. With my current aquos I can choose 720 and 1080 depending on the device. Can I choose the resolution with every 4K tv in order to reduce strain on my xbox one? Then can I return to the native resolution for Blu-ray? Thanks you all.

Whatever the panels response rate is is what it will display at. You can't go over that setting. Most of the TVs I've seen are 30Hz@4k, but you won't be at 4k, you'll be at 1080p. 1080p is usually 60Hz, so in all probability that's what you'll have for refresh rates. Also, remember, not all XBox One...

The TV will upscale downscale as it needs to, no need to change any settings. Your XBox One will only output 720/900/1080 whatever the media is at. Your Bluray player is the same, it's only gonna output at 1080p. You can't make your hardware more awesome than it all ready is by buying a new TV. So no worries.

will that set back and slow the refresh rate as well as the response time? It seems with upscaling it is possible.

Also, remember, not all XBox One games run at 1080p or even 900p, or even 60Hz, some games cap themselves at 30Hz. If you want 4k gaming@ 60Hz, buy a computer.
