4k Tv setup as Home Theatre PC Question... NEED Help..

Hello everyone, let me try to explain the situation i'm facing here..

ALL HDMI Cables are brand new hdmi 2.0 wires.

Alright now, here is the problem i'm dealing with. I am using Makemkv and Handbrake to rip my Blu Ray collection of over 900 blu ray movies to my huge HDDs on my new PC. It was going very well until i bought the new 4k tv/receiver. For some reason, no matter what i do in Settings or the Nvidia control panel i cannot make the content look as good as the old 1080p tv. it was just a regular 1080p Samsung LED slim from 2010. I don't understand why my new 4k Samsung ks8500 which is amazing cant display 1080p content just as good as normal 1080p tvs. Shouldn't it in all logical terms display BETTER 1080p? since its 4k and everything else is 4k? Am I missing something in the settings? One thing that confuses me alot is the display resolution issues i have. Like, in order for blu ray movies to display full screen i have to either run 1920x1080 resolution and it still doesnt look like it did before the new 4k tv. OR, i have to double the video frame size and it stretches the video making it blurry and look shitty. What am i doing wrong here? I have tried everything. Any advice help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I sit close to the TV so distance isn't a factor. Please help.

Connect the PC directly to the TV to eliminate the Denon receiver as a potential source of your problem. If the receiver has any video processing turn it off if you can.
Distance is a factor.
Sitting too close to the TV makes the artifacts of up scaling your 1080p rips to 4k more noticeable.
If you have your PC set to output FHD then the TV is doing the scaling. Try setting the PC output to UHD and the video card will do that. Might be better than the TV. The more pixels you have the more expensive it is to properly scale up the video.
The fact that your new TV has more pixels doesn't make the black level or color better. Your new TV may not be calibrated to produce an accurate picture. You can use a calibration disc yourself since I could not find any setting posted online for that TV. Most TVs do not come well set up out of the box.
