Hello I recently switched a harddrive from one computer with 64 bit windows and placed it in a 32 bit computer. The windows load up ok, with some minor driver issue here there. I want to know if this is safe. Would my CPU eventually burn out or something.

Solution

The OS that lived on the old hard drive does not limit the PC to be 32bit. The motherboard and CPU will recognize a 64bit OS just fine.

And you got lucky with the HDD + OS swap. Often, that does not work.

the computer that currently hold the harddrive had a previous 32 bit windows harddrive. Thats what i mean. I bought this computer within the last 10 years. I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Anyone who claims 100% either way has not tried it enough times, or doesn't read enough in here.

"Sometimes" is the only operative word..
