6G Ipod.

Okay I've recently come across a figurative small bit of gold. I've been researching Ipods because they offer (imo) the biggest hard drives and easiest interface with itunes. now heres the problem. the 5th generation ipod has been out already for almost 2 years. it seems almost due for another generational update. most important are the rumors surrounding the 6G Ipod, which are wifi and full touchscreen like the iphone. I'm not in a total rush but I don't want to be waiting for something that might not even be released. however, i have come to expect that it would either will be released in mid august in time with back to school or in november. not in october because that is the expected release time of leopard. anyone care to suggest or speculate on the matter of the 6G Ipod?

Only time will tell. I think when ever Microsoft releases their new Zune, Apple will be right there releasing their 6G iPod, or vise-versa. Really no one knows at this time, there are only rumors.

Personally I'm waiting to see if Cowon will release an 8GB version of the D2.

I'm not a big fan of the MP3 codec. I've been encoding my song with Ogg Vorbis instead, but I intend to switch to FLAC which does not degrade the quality of music. Thankfully some of Cowon's PMPs support this codec.

At least the Cowon D2 4GB version has a SD slot so if an 8GB version is not released it's not the end of the world.
