hey,

i bought a 8500gt and in Everest it shows the core as a G86gt,
does this mean it can unlock to a 8600gt (with ddr2http://img.tomshardware.com/forum/uk/icones/smilies/ouch.gif
:ouch:) or is that just the core name?

thx

I haven't heard of anyone unlocking the 8500. Haven't looked into it either though, but if it's been done I'd expect it to have been big news by now.

My gut feeling is that everest is simply assuming it's an 8600 if it's based on the value range core.

It's just the core name.

As strange as it seems, the G84 is the GF8600 and the G86 is the GF8500,8400,8300. Nothing to unlock unfortunately.
