Hi, I'm looking to purchase a new laptop for daily use.. facebook, youtube, netflix, etc.. absolutely NO gaming use, but i do upload some rather large pictures / videos from a HD camera..

Browsing BestBuy's website, I found a Samsung [NP365E5C-S03US] with AMD Dual-Core A6-4400M Accelerated Processor with AMD Radeon HD 7520G graphics.. 500GB Serial ATA II hard drive (5400 rpm)

I also found an Asus [X501A-SI30302Q] with Intel Core i3-3120M Processor and UMA graphics.. 500GB hard drive (5400 rpm)

both have 4GB DDR3 memory.. both are under $400...

i'm just curious which one is better, processor-wise, and graphics-wise.. thanks in advance for your help! :)

Go with the Asus with the i3 for sure. That processor will be significantly faster for what you will be using it for.

cpu wise the intel...gpu wise the amd....best total use of silicon again AMD

unless youhave a reason for needing that gpu power the intel system is better.

okay thank you.. also, just curious, what is UMA graphics? i'm not familiar and obviously not very tech-savy these days.. I know the Radeon is much better, but will I even notice a difference if i'm not gaming? The only thing I really would need graphics for is editing some HD video.. otherwise, I'm much more concerned about the computers overall speed...

For everyday tasks and overall speed the Intel unit will be much faster. Also, I personally prefer Asus over Samsung when it comes to computers.

+ 1 for asus

Alright, I just came across another Asus [K55N-DS81] with AMD A8-4500M Processor with ATI HD 7640G graphics (vs. the other Asus with i3-3120M and UMA graphics).... which one of those is better/faster?

so should i just assume i3 is always superior to AMD? (for my needs anyway)..

haha okay, i keep finding more... i just found a Toshiba Satellite [L855-S5113] with i3-3120M Processor & 640GB Serial ATA hard drive.. i think i like this one best so far...

my last laptop was a toshiba and the battery crapped out on me after a couple years, and i ended up breaking it.. which is why i'm in the market for a new laptop...

so this Toshiba i'm looking at [L855-S5113] has "Mobile Intel HD" graphics.... what the heck does that mean??? is it garbage? or again, would i not even know the difference since i'm not gaming?
