Hi,

Is it possible to restrict users editing the excel sheets?

Like say, Manager need the permission to view/edit/copy all excel sheet from a workbook (Full control) , the owner of one particular sheet also needs full control, all others need only read / view ability...

Please let me know if its possible without using different passwords by different users as manager cant remember all users password even though the user base is very less

Thanks

Do not remember working with that per se.

However a quick online search using "Restrict Access ---> Connect to RMS Server and get templates" came up with a number of links.

For example:

https://www.umass.edu/it/support/security/restrict-access-microsoft-office-documents-rights-management-service-rms

and this:

http://itsc.ust.hk/services/cyber-security/rms-protection

Hopefully one of those links will either 1) provide direct guidence or 2) help you refine the search for another more applicable information source.

In Excel - Select Review at the top.

There are a variety of Protection and Sharing options available.

I.e.: Protect Sheet, Protect Workbook, Share Workbook, Protect and Share Workbook, Allow Users to Edit Ranges, and Track Changes.

Within those options there are specific configurations to control access and editing.

However, passwords will be needed. You might create passwords based on the spreadsheet creator's name but that would be insecure as other users could figure out the pattern.

The manager will probably just need to make a reference list of the users, the spreadsheets, and applicable passwords and keep that list secure.
