I have installed 8G memory and Windows 7 64-bit home premium *sees* the memory but shows 3.75G usable.

From what I have already read on the web, I would need to turn on memory remapping in the BIOS. 'cept the BIOS doesn't have that setting - neither in the 1.15 that it came with or the 1.18 update from Acer.

So, any thoughts how I can use all that memory on this machine? I saw someone else post they had installed 8G on this machine, but no way to contact them. Perhaps they installed it and had the same problem!

Anyhow. Please advise.

Let me know if you need more information.

Kind regards

D.

turn your computer off and reseat the ram.
its possible to put the ram in most of the way and have the computer see it but not be able to address it. windows says less than normal usable in this case.
i did it on accident a month ago.

Well, interesting.

Before getting your note, I had swapped the two pieces of 4GB over. No dice.

I also tried lowering the video mem in case that tweaked a BIOS setting. No dice.

Reseated the pieces, - again.

Set the video mem back.

AND IT WORKED!

I now have 7G+ free.

So, thank you for pushing me to try the obvious.

It's possible it was that, though, I think it *may* also have been a "reset the BIOS by tweaking the video mem". Whatever, I'm not going to mess with that again.

Thank you for the kick!

Kind regards
