Hi all
yes im aware this machine doesnt support windows xp but i have installed it and im almost there....
just missing the Wlan/wifi network adaptor.

Ive managed to find the drivers for:
graphics, audio, touchpad, chipset and so far they all seem to be working ok
granted.... I've not ran much software on it yet...... but looking good so far.

The only outstanding bits are the network drivers?
Ive tried downloading loads of broadcom drivers of various versions but none seem to work.
I did purchase a usb wifi adaptor which works fine but its so frustrating not to be able to get the internal hardware working..

SO.........HAS ANYONE MANAGED TO SOLVE THIS ISSUE or any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance

Tony

Hello 4metickleonthetum;

What is the hardware make and model of your wireless network adaptor?

Have you looked at the Wifi adapter in Device Manager?

Control Panel ->Performance and Maintenance -> System -> Hardware tab & click Device Manager.
Find the WiFi adapter and right click, choose Properties.
Look for a Vendor (Ven) and Device (Dev) codes. You can usually find them in the Details tab under Hardware IDs.

sticker on lap says - Acer Nplify b/g/n

2 pieces of hardware that are not installed are ethernet controller and network controller(presumably wifi)

using 'unknown device' software:

ETHERNET CONTROLLER
* Windows Description - Ethernet Controller
* Hardware ID - VEN_1969&DEV_2062&SUBSYS_06231025&REV_C1
* Device Category (Class) - Other devices
* Enumerator - PCI

* Detected Chip Vender - Attansic (Now owned by Atheros)
* Detected Chip Device - <unknown, id=2062>
* Detected Vender - Acer Inc
* Detected Device - <unknown, id=0623>

* Device Status Flags - Detected, Unknown, Present, Not Phantom, Category Visable

NETWORK CONTROLLER
* Windows Description - Network Controller
* Hardware ID - VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_E042105B&REV_01
* Device Category (Class) - Other devices
* Enumerator - PCI

* Detected Chip Vender - Broadcom Corp
* Detected Chip Device - <unknown, id=4727>
* Detected Vender - Foxconn International Inc
* Detected Device - <unknown, id=E042>

* Device Status Flags - Detected, Unknown, Present, Not Phantom, Category Visable

Thanks

Tony

using this method i get

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4727&SUBSYS_E042105B&REV_01\4&33AC49DC&0&00E5

for the ethernet controller
PCI\VEN_1969&DEV_2062&SUBSYS_06231025&REV_C1\4&3A7101AB&0&00E0

Unknown Device Identifier utility or programs like it work well too.

Both agree: Vender 14E4 and Device 4727. It looks like a Broadcom chip on a FoxConn motherboard.

Vendor Device list here:
http://www.pcidatabase.com./index.php

So far though it's not helping me locate a driver there, or on Google.

If you can find another make of laptop that used that same Vender 14E4 and Device 4727 Broadcom Chip and HAS a XP driver there is a good chance it will work.
