Acer Aspire v5 Screen not working

The screen connector's covering (the small wire going around the perimeter of the screen on left side) is missing a piece. The wire itself does not looked frayed or damaged in any way, but the screen is not working and I suspect this is the cause. The display works when connected to an exterior monitor (via hdmi), so it is not a hardware problem, just the screen not working. The screen itself is just black, and does not light up whatsoever on startup or otherwise.

that wire on the left side is part of your wireless card antenna. the screen itself could be bad or the cable between the motherboard & screen could be causing the issue.

I am not sure. I just assumed it was the small wire that had the covering missing that was causing the problem, but I guess that is not it. There is a larger wire that runs along the left side as well, which must be the motherboard connector for the screen?
Any help/solutions are greatly appreciated.
