Acer lap top repair hardware issues

Hello,
acer notebook,aspire 5736z. New hard drive installed weeks ago. When I turn on the lap top, I hear it running, blue light flashes, then everthing just stops. I drain the battery just prior to this happening to fix the monitor. The lap top worked for 5 mins than just shut down.

Can you get into the bios to see if it sees the new drive? If not, it may have failed.

Thanks Tom. The drive was just updated. Any other suggestions?
