I have removed the HDD from one of these laptops without any problems,
got the data I needed from it, however I cannot get the thing going
again.
i removed the HDD by removing the single screw at the front, sliding
the cover to the side, and gently pulling the HDD out. Looking inside
the cavity, I can see why it's not going, the connector looks like it
needs to be attached to the HDD front inside the laptop...is that
right? I hope so, because otherwise it looks like i've pulled the
connector from a mounting point (although I'm dammed if I can see
where the connector was mounted.

When putting in a HDD, do you need to open the whole chassis? (eg:
remove keyboard etc?

I have two 370C's here, and they are different. One uses a plug/socket combo
and you just slide the drive in and it seats (like a PCMCIA card).

The other uses a flexicircuit and DOES require disassembly of the case. If
yours has a flexicircuit attached to the drive, it is the latter type. Post
again and I will generate a set of instructions on how to get in and out without
breaking things.

Yes, it is a flexicircuit. It's the first time I have come across one
in a laptop, so imagine my surprise (and shocked worry...no
fingernails left!)
