I found a Logitech Z2300 computer sub someone was getting rid of. Works fine. I'm trying to connect it to my Pioneer 822K receiver.

Too cheap for now to buy a good sub, so trying to see if this garbage one will work. I am trying hard not to blow out my receiver and was wondering if anyone has words of wisdom (other than buy a good sub, buy a good receiver) as to how to make this abomination work.

Thank you in advance.

Solution
thats a powered subwoofer so requires no power from the receiver. your receiver has a pre-out for the subwoofer which isnt amped.

the problem is that the "left" and "right" on the rear are outputs (dont use these) and that the only input is the specialty jack. you would need the wire with the control pod on it which you can see in the manual here http://www.logitech.com/assets/35688/setup-installation-guide.pdf

that would be the easiest and only non-diy way of making it work.

or... you could attempt to make it work yourself by creating your own cable. you would need to have your cable connect to the right input pin though. from the diagram. you can look here for information (but it should be pin 1)...

you could then get a dc-15 cable, using a tester find the wire which matches pin 1 and solder it onto a rca female jack and connect up to it in this way.

personally i'd probaly get one of these http://www.northerntech.com/portfolio-view/dc-series-crimp-d-sub/ connectors and strip down the subwoofer cable if possible and use that direct into the connector end (if the wire fits.. if not you may need a small adapter wire soldered inside the plug end).

provided you get a connection into the sub? it should work fine.
