Hey guys, I own an ASUS X42JR laptop bought in 2011. Its old and I have a new one now, but I keep this one for nostalgic reasons. These are the specs:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core I7 740 QM
4GB DDR3 RAM
ASUSTek K42JR Motherboard
ATI Radeon HD 5470 1GB Graphics Card
500GB Seagate HDD
Ever since I bought it I’ve been having problems with it shutting down automatically, sometimes even when it isn’t that hot. I dismissed it as just a simple overheating problem cause back then I didn’t know much about computers. However the shutdowns are completely random. I’ve played Assassin’s Creed Black Flag on it and it never shut down despite getting super-hot. But other times it shuts down immediately after I turn it on. I’ve sent it for cleaning multiple times over the years and even did it myself once but still no luck. Then I started wondering maybe its hardware issue and booted it safe mode. I ended up disabling 2 of my processors and I have not had the problem since.
Does this means that all this while my processor is the one that has been faulty? Cause I have never come across this kind of issue in my years trying to fix this.
